Well, I've taken the tank over to Mattsons. After a day of thinking about this, I think it might be better to just order a new one. First, it's less expensive to buy a new one, Second, it is in Santa Barbara.......Which could only mean a field trip to Santa Barbara and Bacara!!!!!!!! What's left to think about??? So, I guess I've got to call and cancel the work at Mattsons, (which I'm sure would be great work !) and go over and pick it up. First I'm going to call and make sure that Moss Motors has it in stock.......
I'm not quite sure where all these parts go!!!! Oh well, I've got the gas tank ready to go to the shop tomorrow. I've also got the jack stands ready..........But it's starting to feel like........
the neck bone is connected to the backbone, the back bone is connected to the............
Well, the Gas Tank is out!!!! Wow, just a couple of days spraying WD-40 and tapping the nuts/bolts and here it is!!!!!! I've cleaned out the trunk and wiped off the tank. Mattsons Radiator isn't open today, Bummer. Oh well. Now to find jack stands so the car can be jacked up to take off the wheels and tires. Although, Specialized Ceramic & Powder Coating isn't open today either......Oh well. It looks like Monday will be a car kind of day as well!
Well, it's time to take out the fuel tank.......That just sounds scarry.... It's in the trunk. The bolts are rusted under the car holding it on.......I've picked up some rust remover and we'll see how this goes. I see a manicure in my future!!!!
Wow, the radiator is back. The core has been replaced and it's been all shined up. Now, if I only knew where it goes.....:) Next.......The fuel tank has to come out and it's off to be checked and cleaned up.....
Well, with the help of the Victoria British catalog, I've ordered a new windshield and hopefully all the parts to go along with it. We'll see how that goes!!!!
I'm still waiting to hear when the radiator will be ready. Hopefully any day.
I've also started researching the wheels. I think I'm going to go with the powder coating on the wheels I already have.
So, I guess I need to get this car on a stand so the wheels can get "Powder Coated"!!!!
Well, again my neighbor, Dan, has told me about something else. Surf City Garage has this polish, Killer Chrome. I'm going to start working on some parts today.......I may be doing this for a while.....
Well, the first part is off to be checked and fixed if needed!!!! Wow. My neighbor, Dan, (who has himself restored many classic cars to perfection), has told me about Mattson's Radiator here in the OC. How exciting!!!!
Well, I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. I am just a little anxious. I got this car from my parents years ago. Ater much anticipation and restoring gone way wrong, I'm starting this "Restoration Project"myself. I'm not sure what all needs to be done, or if i can do it, or send it out. Either way, Here goes...
